We were excited to walk up to Restaurang Kaffe Gillet to see that it was still open. It looked very warm and inviting with candles lit on each table. The restaurang was completely empty when we stepped in from the cold.The server was very friendly and welcoming when we walked through the door. We picked a table and sat down. The candle on our table was getting low and our server grabbed it immediately to exchange it for a taller replacement.He brought us some mugs of hot chocolate right away. The mugs were nice and hot and had an abundance of whipped cream at the top. It took awhile to get down to the hot chocolate, but the mug felt good on my frozen hands. The whipped cream was very good and the hot chocolate also had a good flavor. I would rank it 8th place on my list of favorite hot chocolate in Europe.The server was very helpful in explaining the menu and had several recommendations. I went with the Pyttipanna, a traditional Swedish dish consisting of potatoes, onions, and chopped meat, diced and then pan fried. It was served with a fried egg, a small dish of pickled beetroot, garnish, and a slice of tomato and zuchini covered in cheese.While we were waiting for our meals, our server brought us a big basket of bread and knäckebröd, a traditional Swedish crisp bread and butter while we waited.Our meals were good and we decided to order some dessert as well. We ordered up a raspberry pie crumble heated up and smothered in cream sauce. It was very good. Our server engaged us in pleasant conversation and was very nice and accommodating even though we came into his establishment rather late.”
